Designer Charlotte Ronson spoke with the media at New York Fashion Week. |
For a second season, The HSUS sponsored fur-free fashion designer Charlotte Ronson's runway show, this time held in the epicenter of Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week, the Bryant Park tents.
"I don't support cruelty to animals; anyway, faux fur can be just as chic," Ronson said.
Ronson met The HSUS's fur-free team at the 2007 Cool vs. Cruel party, where she embraced the fur-free idea for her line. Guests at Cool vs. Cruel viewed footage of how animals are skinned alive for their fur.
At the previous HSUS-sponsored show, Ronson sent a faux fur capelet with The HSUS anti-fur button down the runway for an audience that included Nicky Hilton and Teen Vogue editor-in chief Amy Astley.
On Saturday, Lindsay Lohan, Sean Lennon, Emma Roberts and others saw Ronson's Spring/Summer 2009 line accessorized with The HSUS's new fur-free canvas tote. The reusable cotton gift bags all contained the fur-free button, a brochure and a DVD on the cruelty of animal fur.
Family Ties
Many members of the Ronson family pitched in to make the show a success. The models—including sister Annabelle—catwalked to a soundtrack by Grammy-winning brother Mark in the DJ booth.
Mother Ann Dexter-Jones was on hand, sister Samantha attended with Lohan, and other members of the famous family lent support from backstage and the front of the house.
