Nelly showed his support for animals by signing The HSUS' anti-dogfighting poster.
Grammy-winning rap artist Nelly showed he was top dog recently at an MTV Video Music Awards pre-event. He signed The Humane Society of the United States' "Prize, Not Fighter" poster renouncing dogfighting and then posed with The HSUS's dogfighting t-shirt with the same slogan.

We hope Nelly's show of support for The HSUS' anti-dogfighting campaign at the celebrity-studded Style Villa event held at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas will send a message to his millions of fans about the importance of caring for animals and communities as well.

Nelly wasn't the only star to show his support for animals at the glitzy event. The dogfighting poster was rapidly covered with signatures in many colors of ink.

Nelly prizes dogs for who they are, not as macho status symbols.
Former NBA player and current sport show host John Salley (Best Damn Sports Show Period), songwriter Diane Warren, Britney Spears' cousin Alli Sims, members of Linkin Park and the Plain White T's, Miss USA 2006 Tara Conner, American Idol's Chris Daughtry, NBA Cavalier player Larry Hughes and actress Melissa Joan Hart also stopped by The HSUS table to show their support by signing one or both of our anti-dogfighting and anti-fur posters.

The two and a half-day Style Villa celebration preceded the MTV Video Music Awards in Las Vegas on Sept. 9. Representatives of The HSUS's Fur-Free Campaign and Animal Cruelty and Fighting Campaign were on hand to mingle with the stars and raise their awareness of and support for animal protection causes.

Stars took home HSUS gear and a better understanding of animal issues, particularly those surrounding fur and dogfighting.
