The National Enquirer's new "Lock 'Em Up" series is a key to punishing animal abusers.
More Americans will now be aware of and empowered to act against animal cruelty, thanks to The HSUS' exciting new partnership with the National Enquirer. The magazine's "Lock 'Em Up" series will spotlight animal abusers who got off easy, to ensure their cases are not swept under the rug.

The inaugural July 16 "Lock 'Em Up" column announced,

Animal abusers are getting away with horrific crimes. . . Lock 'Em Up! That's what needs to be done to the heartless abusers of poor, defenseless animals. Every years, thousands of dogs, cats and other pets are tragically killed, tortured, abused, neglected and mistreated. And in a total miscarriage of justice, the monsters who abuse them often don't spend even one day behind bars!

The HSUS' partnership with the National Enquirer is part of our accelerated efforts to bring animal abusers to justice and prevent new cruelty cases. As the world's largest weekly tabloid with more than 15 million readers, the National Enquirer's new spotlight on animal cruelty will motivate many readers who would otherwise be unaware of the terrible abuses that animals endure every day across the country.

With the help of National Enquirer readers, animal abusers will be put on notice that their crimes cannot be covered up. Every article of the Lock 'Em Up series will feature the name and address of the prosecutor, politician or judge who could help stop animal cruelty or bring an abuser to justice. We hope it will inspire the public to take action against all cases of animal cruelty, both those highlighted by the National Enquirer and those in their own communities. Look for Lock 'Em Up at your newsstand!
