The
Animal Cruelty Response and Reward Fund provides The HSUS as well as communities, law enforcement agencies and legislatures with potent weapons against those who fight or otherwise abuse animals. With your help, we'll bring abusers to justice and work to prevent these crimes from happening in the first place. Donations to this fund will be used to:
- Fund an investigations unit, composed of former law enforcement agents and experts on dogfighting, to monitor and infiltrate the underground dogfighting industry
- Train law enforcement and prosecutors nationwide on taking action against criminals who harm animals, either with active malice or through neglect
- Lobby for stronger animal fighting and cruelty laws nationwide so that violent crimes against animals—abuse, neglect and animal fighting—are punished as a felony crime in all fifty states
- Fund and promote our newly invigorated reward fund that provides up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of animal fighters and other animal abusers
- Launch the community program Dogfighting Is The Pits in cities nationwide, which fights this crime on two fronts:
- Gives law enforcement the tools to track down and bust dogfighters
- Engages the community to discourage dogfighting from happening
- Provide care for animals seized in animal cruelty and fighting cases. Without this assistance, police are often reluctant to pursue cases involving large numbers of animals.
