HSUS Kentucky State Director Pam Rogers and Romeo, a dog whose cruelty case inspired a new law. |
The Eastern Mountain Regional Office (EMRO) serves the animals and people of five states: Kentucky, North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia.
Formed in October 2007, our office serves a diverse region composed of metropolitan areas, small communities, miles of coast, acres of farmland, and mountains.
We are working to break the grip of animal fighting and reduce the suffering of farm animals. We work with legislative officials from the local, state, and federal governments to enact stronger animal protection laws. We will go to court when necessary to stand up for animals and those who seek to protect them.
We're building a coalition of animal advocates in each state to support local organizations and shelters throughout the region, while also promoting the animal protection goals of The HSUS. Our staff serve as resources in assisting local law enforcement, animal services agencies and prosecutors in investigating and prosecuting animal cruelty cases.
Please contact one of our state directors or our regional director (below) if you need information, instructional materials or a workshop. We offer training on disaster response, animal fighting, lobbying, and many other topics. If you would like to volunteer, we would love to hear from you.
